
This trust fund was established to carry out the wish and desire expressed in Article XI of the Last Will and Testament of Hazel Hieronymus to provide a lasting benefit to the citizens of Harper County, Oklahoma, such benefit being a means of aiding, helping and assisting worthy young men and women who desire an education.
STUDENT LOAN RULES AND REGULATIONS
Eligibility for Student Loans:
A. The applicant must have attended and received a diploma from an accredited
high school in Harper County.
B. Have been accepted or applied for acceptance to attend a college or university accredited by the state university governing board of the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, or New Mexico; or have been accepted or applied for acceptance to attend a technical school accredited by the state board of education in the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, or New Mexico. Students who want to attend a qualifying institution outside of the stated geographic area may make a written request to the Board of Trustees requesting an exception.
** Please Note: Proof of enrollment for the requested semester must be submitted with any application.**
Loan Limits-The maximum loan per semester or term:
A. Undergraduate/Technical School fall or spring semester is limited to $1,800.00 per semester.
B. Graduate fall or spring semester is limited to $2200.00 per semester.
C. Undergraduate/Technical School summer term is $900.00.
D. Graduate School summer term is $1600.00.
E. The total maximum amount that any person may borrow from the Trust is $18 000.00. An applicant may apply for new funds after the initial loan is paid off or if the principal has been partially paid.
F. An applicant may request higher loan limits by making a written request for an exception to the above stated limits. The Trustees must vote to approve or not approve the exception; the decision of the Trustees is final.
Interest Rate - The interest rate for all loans will be five percent (5%) per year on the principal loan amounts.
Loan Application and Reference Deadlines:
A. Fall semester loan applications and all references must be received on or before the Wednesday prior to the August Buffalo Board of Education regular meeting.
B. Spring semester loan applications and all references must be received on or before the Wednesday prior to the December Buffalo Board of Education regular meeting.
C. Summer semester loan applications and all references must be received on or before the Wednesday prior to the May Buffalo Board of Education regular meeting.
D. The Trust Board may vote to extend deadlines.
